Mosaic Let’s go back to Sao Paulo,Brasil for Thanksgiving November 21st— 28th
The city of Sao Paulo covers an area of about 580 square miles and holds over 11,000,000 people. The wider metropolitan area of Sao Paulo includes 29,000,000 people making it the second largest city in the world. It is a city of great extremes - wealth and poverty - celebration and despair.
Our work in Brazil will be with missionaries Chris and Melody Julian. They are specifically assigned the task of sharing and living the story of Jesus with college students. Chris and Melody have started Bible studies on the campus at McKenzie University (25,000 students enrolled) and at the University of Sao Paulo (60,000 students enrolled). They have launched a church in the midst of college students in Sao Paulo near McKenzie University. We will be assisting this unique new gathering engage it's community.
These efforts in Sao Paulo will include hosting "Thanksgiving dinners" and inviting students to join us and learn about this unique aspect of American culture. The Julian’s will use these dinners to introduce students to their new gathering and the story of Jesus.
There are many additional ways we could use the talents in our family of faith to help this new church plant live the story with college students in Sao Paulo. Our goal is to continue in helping them develop a relevant and missional family of faith in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
As an added bonus, Colby Sledge will be there already working with the Julians. He leaves here in a few days. So start praying and spreading the word to those you think might be interested.
We have started the ball rolling and begun investigating travel logistics. I think we will be able to keep trip costs below $1500. We will travel 11/21/09 - 11/28/09I will need to know soon if you're interested and the sooner we start with deposits the less expensive our flights will be.
Start praying. Start talking. Start this conversation with others, Then let us know if you are in….
